What hurts a grocery store

Grocery runs on speed and small details: checkout queues, weighed goods, expired items on the shelf, a notebook of debts owed by regulars, and running out of whatever sells fastest. Good grocery store software has to cover these gaps, not just print a receipt.

A minimarket register built around the scanner

A grocery register lives and dies by scanning. Sotix Kassa scans with a phone or tablet camera, or you can plug in a regular USB scanner. It runs on Android, iPhone and iPad, Mac, Windows and in a browser.

Weighed goods and expiry dates

Vegetables, cheese and grains sold by weight work through weighing-scale barcodes (PLU for scales): the cashier scans the label and weight and price go onto the receipt. For perishable goods Sotix has batches with expiry dates: stock is tracked per batch, so you see what to sell or write off instead of finding expired items during a stock count.

If your range includes goods that require mandatory marking, Sotix supports DataMatrix codes (Asl Belgisi), with a code per item on the receipt.

Customer debts instead of a notebook

Many grocers keep a notebook of who owes what. It gets lost, and the numbers get disputed. Sotix has a customer base with debts, instalments (a payment schedule) and debt reminders. A return pays off the customer's debt first. Bonuses, customer groups with discounts, promotions and promo codes help keep regulars coming back.

Purchasing, auto-reorder and stocktaking

To keep shelves full, set a minimum and maximum stock level per product, and Sotix creates an auto-order from those levels. Purchasing follows the chain: supplier order, goods receipt, return to supplier. The owner gets low-stock alerts in Telegram.

Stocktaking can be full, selective (by ABC) or blind, where staff count without seeing the expected quantity. Shortages are charged to the responsible person. See also inventory management in Uzbekistan.

Offline and under control

Connectivity in a shop can be flaky, and the queue will not wait. The Sotix register keeps working without internet: sales are stored on the device and sent to the server when the connection returns.

Cashier control: shifts, cash in and out, X and Z reports, and blind register closing, where the cashier does not see the expected amount. Shortages are deducted from the responsible person. Cancellations, sales after payment and discounts over the limit are reported to the owner. We are preparing fiscalization through certified operators.
