Inventory management in Uzbekistan: keep stock under control
What good stock control looks like for a store: live stock levels, stock counts without closing the shop, purchasing and accountability for shortages.
Why inventory management matters
With few products, stock sits in your head or a notebook. Then come suppliers, several locations and returns, and the real stock no longer matches the written one. Inventory management software takes this over: every sale, receipt and return changes the quantity automatically, and the owner always sees current numbers.
Good stock control lets you reorder fast sellers in time, avoid tying up cash in slow items and notice losses early.
Common problems: shortages and mixed-up stock
Most owners recognise these problems.
- Shortages: goods vanish and nobody is responsible.
- Mix-ups: the system says one size or colour, the shelf holds another.
- An item runs out and you learn about it from a customer.
- Expired or slow-moving stock you bought too much of.
- Sales, receiving and transfers between locations are recorded in different notebooks.
These are solved by order, not by strictness: every operation should have an author and a date.
Stock counts without chaos
A stock count is the main way to compare records with reality. In Sotix you can run a full count, a selective count (for example, class A items from the ABC analysis) or a blind count, where the employee counts without seeing the expected quantity. The result is more honest.
A shortage found during a count is assigned to the responsible employee. Items are easy to find and count: each product card holds barcodes, and a phone camera or USB scanner does the scanning. For shelves, you can print labels and price tags with a barcode (EAN-13, Code128).
What Sotix stock control includes
- Product cards with barcodes, photos, brand, VAT, IKPU and package code, and minimum and maximum stock.
- Variants by size and colour, bundles, retail and wholesale price lists.
- Item-by-item tracking by serial number or IMEI, and batches with expiry dates.
- Several warehouses and branches, with transfers of goods and money between them.
- Purchasing: supplier orders, receiving, returns to suppliers, and auto-ordering from minimum and maximum stock.
- Import of products, customers and suppliers from Excel or CSV with a preview check, and export to Excel, CSV, JSON and for 1C.
The owner gets a Telegram alert when stock runs low. Reports include ABC and XYZ analysis and slow-moving items.
Stock and register in one system
Stock figures are accurate only when sales and inventory are one system. In Sotix the register deducts goods at the moment of the sale, and when the internet is down, sales are saved on the device and synced later. Read more in our guide to a POS system in Uzbekistan.
If you need your own integration or a link to other software, API keys and webhooks are available.
How to run a stock count in one day
- Pick the type: a full count for a small store, or a selective ABC count for your most important items.
- Assign people to zones, so any shortage lands on a specific person.
- Turn on blind counting: the employee enters the real quantity without seeing the system figure.
- Count with a scanner or phone camera instead of ticking a paper list.
- Review the differences, recheck disputed items and close the count.
This way the stock is counted quickly and the result is hard to adjust.
Purchasing and auto-ordering: no empty shelves, no excess stock
Set a minimum and maximum level for each product. When stock falls below the minimum, the system suggests an automatic supplier order up to the maximum, and the owner receives a low-stock alert. The chain then runs through a supplier order, receiving and, if needed, a return to the supplier.
To avoid piling up excess, look at the slow-moving report and the ABC analysis: they show which items bring most of your sales and which simply sit on the shelf.
Who is responsible and which reports to read
Stock control works when every operation has an author. In Sotix roles and permissions are editable: one employee can be allowed to receive goods only, another to sell only. The change log shows who changed a product card or a quantity, and when.
For owner decisions, use the reports: sales by product, branch and seller, period comparison, profit, and ABC and XYZ analysis. If you buy abroad, prices can be kept in US dollars with an exchange rate while you sell in soums.
