POS system in Uzbekistan: what to check before you choose
A practical guide for business owners comparing POS software in Tashkent and across Uzbekistan: cashier control, offline mode, local payments and stock in one system.
What a POS system should do
A good POS system is more than a receipt printer. For the owner, what matters is everything around the sale: how much stock is left, who sold what and when, and where money went missing. If you are choosing POS software in Tashkent, check these points first.
- Sales, returns, held receipts, discounts and a minimum price below which a cashier cannot sell without approval.
- Cash, card (Uzcard and Humo through a terminal), Payme, Click and Uzum.
- Works on devices you already own, not only on special hardware.
- One database for sales and stock, so you never reconcile numbers by hand.
Common problems: cash shortages and unsupervised cashiers
Owners rarely lose money to one big theft. It is usually small things: unrecorded sales, unjustified discounts, refunds with no explanation, differences at the end of a shift. If nobody watches the till, finding the cause later is almost impossible, especially when you run the business from abroad.
Sotix covers these gaps with controls:
- Blind cash closing: the cashier does not see the expected amount and counts honestly. A shortage is assigned to the responsible employee and can be deducted.
- Editable roles and permissions: a discount above the limit or a cancellation after payment needs approval.
- Telegram alerts for the owner: cancellations after payment, cash shortages, shift and daily summaries.
- Cashier login by PIN and a change log show who did what.
POS software that works without internet
Connections drop, in Tashkent as anywhere. If the software stops, the queue grows and the customer leaves. The Sotix register keeps selling offline: sales are saved on the device and sent to the server as soon as the connection returns.
Nothing is lost, and you can see the full picture in the owner cabinet at owner.sotix.uz and in the Sotix Biznes app.
A POS on a phone, tablet or computer
A small store often does not need a separate cash register. Sotix Kassa runs on Android 7+ and iPhone or iPad with iOS 15+, on Mac with macOS 12+, on Windows 10+, and in the browser at kassa.sotix.uz.
You can scan barcodes with the phone or tablet camera or a USB scanner. Weight barcodes and DataMatrix marking (Asl Belgisi) are supported. Receipts print on 58 mm and 80 mm rolls and on A4, and customers can get an electronic receipt by link, QR code or SMS. The interface is available in Uzbek, Russian and English, and prices can be kept in US dollars with an exchange rate.
About fiscalization: we are preparing a connection to fiscalization through certified operators. It is not available yet.
Customers, discounts and owner reports
As sales grow, a till alone is not enough. Sotix includes a customer database with debts and installment schedules, bonuses, discount groups, gift certificates, promotions and promo codes. A refund first pays off the customer's debt instead of going straight out of the till.
The owner reviews sales by seller, branch and product, compares periods and sees profit. The Sotix Biznes app for Android, iOS and macOS shows summaries and lets you approve a cashier's discount remotely without visiting the store.
For staff there is a timesheet based on cash register shifts and payroll: a rate, a percentage of sales and KPI.
How to choose POS software: a checklist
Before you buy, go through a short list and put the questions to any vendor.
- Which devices does it run on, and is special hardware required.
- What happens when the internet drops: do sales continue.
- Which payments are accepted: cash, card, Payme, Click, Uzum.
- Are there roles, discount limits and approval above the limit.
- Can the owner see sales and stock remotely.
- Can you import products from Excel and export your data.
- How are barcodes, weighed goods and marking handled.
- Is there a trial to test it in your own store.
Controlling cashiers and cash
Cash passes through the shift. The cashier opens a shift, adds and withdraws money, and at the end an X and Z report is produced. Blind closing stops anyone from adjusting the count to the expected figure.
If a cashier wants to give a discount above their limit, a manager approves it remotely in Sotix Biznes. Cancellations after payment and discounts over the limit enter risk control and reach the owner as alerts. Staff pay can be calculated from cash register shifts.
